Danesbrook House is a small wonderful care home where we are committed to making a

We currently have a vacancy for a kitchen assistant to come and work with our great team.

This is a full time role, 36h per week. This role does involve weekend working, and flexibility between the hours of 8am and 7pm. We offer flexible working hours.

Main aims of the job
– To follow a set menu
– To keep the kitchen clean and tidy
– To be aware of the special diets that may be required
– To work alongside your colleagues to cater for special events taking place within the home

Key Responsibilities
– Prepare meals set out on the set menu
– To undertake a range of tasks associated with food preparation
– To work with the head cook with the baking of cakes for afternoon tea if necessary
– To keep accurate record, receiving, rotating and inventory of products and regulatory
compliance.
– To ensure that the kitchen cleaning rota is adhered to at all times and that the kitchen is
hygienically clean and the floor mopped when necessary
– To assist the Head Cook with the ordering of supplies if requested to do so

Qualifications, skills and Experience
– Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Have good judgement, problem solving, and decision making skills
– The ability to work flexible hours to meet the business needs
– Effective time keeping and time management
– Have a genuine interest for older people
– The ability to work effectively within a team environment
– Be willing to participate in National Vocational Training Programmes
– Food and Hygiene training
– HACCP level 2 desirable but not essential, training will be provided.
– NVQ level 2

We are looking for a person who is infectiously energetic and able to engage and motivate others. To spend time tailoring activities to our residents specific needs and interests. Using your own initiative to develop new ideas and programmes.  Have a great sense of the huge impact that activities have on individuals and how you can make a difference to them.

Good communication and presentation are essential in this role.

24 hours per week, applicants must be flexible in working routine, which includes weekends.

The role of activities co-ordinator consists of:

  • Helping residents to socialise and get to know one another.
  • Organising and managing one-to-one activities.
  • Producing and updating the activity planner for the home.
  • Plan daily activities and carry out daily exercises with the residents.
  • Encourage family participation in activities within the home.
  • Supporting with social media channels.
  • Organise fundraising events, entertainment, and events for occasions.
  • Plan and research activities to stimulate the minds of the residents according to their needs and choices.
  • Complete activities file and keep all documentation up to date and accurate.

DBS check is essential for this role.

Experience working in an elderly care/dementia setting is desirable but not essential.

Immediate start is available for successful candidate.
